Mikey’s Birthday Banner
I was asked to make a banner for a friends birthday!!! Since I do good fabric I said sure.
I was told he hates flamingos, pink and tacky stuff. So my little brain got to thinking (and we all know exactly how scary that is!) So I decided to make it white with a flamingo border, pink letters and an Airstream trailer with a satilite dish and palm trees. Then I decided it needed something more. But I just could not put my finger on it!
I thought a while (I know there I go thinking again) and thought needs metallic thread and rhinestones!!! Lots of rhinestones!
The pictures!
So below is a picture!! Isn’t it jus fabulous

As I mentioned to Paulette, I’m going to tackle a quilt. My second. LOL I want a specific type of wall hanging I have in mind, and can’t find anything I like in the store.
I’m going to try something strip quilted turned on point – inspired by this one: http://www.rickytims.com/images/HC_Revelation.jpg. However, that’s way too difficult for my limited skills and I’ll be simplifying greatly. (His quilts are amazing, btw… deconstruct the link and browse his galleries!

Paulette told me you were going to give quilting a try. I think you will do great. If you have any questions please let me know. I know a bit about the subject. As for Ricky Tims I love his stuff. I have taken several classes of his. He is a great teacher. His stuff is not as hard as you might think. I say pick a project and go for it. I am one of those people that usually chooses the hard stuff first then goes back and does the easy stuff. Did a full marathon before I did a half. Happy stitching!
