Hello and exciting updates!

Hello All,

Well the last year has included some amazing changes for myself. I have decided that I want to pursue my art more formally and I am making steps to actually start treating it like a potential career.

I entered my first juried art quilt show and was rejected. The reason was my quilt was not artistic enough to hang in a gallery. Strangely I am very ok with the objection. I am not letting it detour my drive to move forward as an artist.

I just launched my studio website it is located at www.looneyhues.com, as a matter of fact this blog will be moving to that site in the very near future. When that change happens I am going to put a domain forward on this domain to auto redirect people to the new website.

I am also in the process of creating a portfolio so I can apply at a local gallery!!! Stay tuned for further announcements.

Happy creating!!!

Update

Hello All,

Well I have been working on stitching embroidery designs over the last week for the launch of Bernina Embroidery Software 8. I am doing a launch party for it on Saturday Sept 24th from 11 am to 2 pm at Seams Like Home. I am excited about the new software it has some awesome additions to it!

As for my calendar I have not been diligent in logging my studio time lately. I have not been feeling like I am getting enough studio time lately so I don’t want to use it filling out the calendar. I am setting a new rule for myself starting today that when ever I get creative time I will log it before leaving the studio that day.

Back to sample creating,

Happy creating!

I am back!

Ok 3 weeks is way to long to be out of the studio.

First Mike had to spend 2 days in ICU. He had cellulitis!! Yucky! Then 4 days after that I had to do an emergency fly out for mom. She developed a hip infection in her rebuilt hip and was not wanting to go to OHSU to get it fixed. So I was gone for almost 2 weeks for that. During the time with mom in the hospital I finally finished my scarf!!! It is beautiful I will post pictures soon.

When I got back from Oregon I was exhausted. I only had 3 hours of sleep in the first 3 days I was there. Then I slept in mom’s hospital room for the next 6 nights! So I was very tired when I got home.

The day after I got back I had two 3 hour free motion quilting classes with Angela Walters, http://www.quiltingismytherapy.com at Seams Like Home, http://www.akseams.com.

I am finally feeling almost human again and I am back in the studio!

Happy creating!

It has been awhile!

Hi World,

Well it has been awhile since I posted! I have been busy. I have worked on the quilt that never ends. Someday I know I will finish it! I want it done because I have a bunch of projects that I want to work on! I just heard in the last couple days about a quilter named Karlee Porter (www.karleeporter.com)! She invented a type of quilting called Graffiti Quilting. I have her book on order it arrives in 2 days I am so excited about it!!! Please check out her website her work is amazing.

I also got the borders on the apple core quilt!! I have decided that will be dedicated to a specific purpose, stay tuned to find out what! It will be a bit before it can go forward because it is going to have Graffiti Quilting on it and I need to practice first!

I also have worked on my split tumbler quilt. 2 days ago I finished a commission project forĀ a friend! That took 3 or 4 days to get that done and since it took the B780 with embroidery module I was unable to work on the quilt that never ends.

Well enough for now off to bed I go!

Happy creating!

I have all my thread put away!

Last night I finally got all the thread I had pulled for my thread painting class away! It was a huge task. The top of the cutting table was half covered with thread!!

I am still processing information from the class. I am working through several projects in my head.

Happy Creating and Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful!
